Hey there lovelies, big news today – our new online course, Home Mushroom Cultivation is officially up and out into the world!

We’ve been quietly working on this super-comprehensive course for *more than a year* – and we’re so thrilled to finally be able to share it with you.

This course is based on our acclaimed ‘Gourmet Mushroom Cultivation’ two-day workshop – which we ran face-to-face for many years here in Australia, stewarding 1000+ happy students through the beginnings of their mushroom cultivation journey.

In that time, we constantly fielded requests for an online version, so folks who couldn’t make it to our weekend course could learn this awesome, low-waste mushroom cultivation knowledge also. You asked, we listened!

This new, self-paced online course will begin taking bookings in August 2021… may we invite you to get ready to learn everything you need to know – to successfully grow organic AND waste-free edible & medicinal mushrooms, at your place. Whoohoo!

Sound good? If you’d like to join us, join the course waitlist and we will make sure you’re the first to know when this course is open for bookings.

What you’ll learn inside the Home Mushroom Cultivation course

Firstly, we’ll introduce you to the incredible kingdom of fungi – the biology of mushrooms and how they fit into the natural world.

Then we’ll take you through at the mushroom lifecycle – which is really essential to get your head around before you start growing mushrooms. Things like: how they grow, how they’re different to plants, and the essential things they need to thrive.

Next, we’ll lead you step-by-step through some super-successful techniques for growing your very own mushrooms like a pro, but at home – using grain spawn. We’ll start with the most basic mushroom growing technique you can do (using cardboard) and gradually build your knowledge up from there – until you’re growing bucketloads of beautiful oyster mushrooms, at your place, on the regular. Yay for low-waste techniques!

Because we’ve perfected a method of growing mushrooms that significantly reduces the need for single-use plastics. We’ll encourage you to make use of repurposed materials whenever possible. It’s not only a great way to reduce your environmental footprint, but it also cuts down the cost of growing mushrooms at home, until the process is (nearly) free.

Once you’ve got the basics covered, we’ll take your growing journey outside – and teach you our very best, fool-proof techniques for growing medicinal (and delicious) mushrooms on logs, and in gardens, too.

And, of course, we’ll share our favourite ways to cook, store and preserve the bumper harvest that you’re going to grow.

And with that, you’ll be on your way to a lifetime of growing and eating delicious mushrooms. Hooray!

We acknowledge that permaculture owes the roots of its theory and practice to traditional and Indigenous knowledges, from all over the world. We all stand on the shoulders of many ancestors – as we learn, and re-learn, these skills and concepts. We pay our deepest respects and give our heartfelt thanks to these knowledge-keepers, both past and present.
